The theme of our weekly sessions are linked to the group‘s termly topic. Our sessions usually begin with a fun warm-up activity, which helps the children to feel comfortable and in the zone. The club leader will then introduce the focus of the session (this will relate to a drama skill - for e.g. how to effectively use our voices to show our emotions). The children will then experiment with a practical task in smaller groups, before showcasing their performances back to the whole group. Our sessions end with a reflection, where children can reflect on what has been presented and we celebrate our collective progress & achievement. Please note that each session will vary based on the groups needs. For e.g. Our Mini Stars sessions will include more teacher led activities compared to the senior groups.
Our Messy Stories sessions (ages 0-3) are inspired by well known children’s stories. These sessions begin with the coach introducing the story to the group, before the children are allowed to explore the various stations in the room and get messy! All stations and the entire set up are inspired by the story that we focus on.
Drama activities can benefit everyone of all ages - not just aspiring actors. Each session involves a creative process, where the children work collectively to present something unique that they have built. This process helps to build social skills, independence, creativity, confidence, the ability to work effectively as part of a team and practicing the process of failure without fearing it. Our reflective approach in our sessions teaches the group that we don’t aim for perfection but for constant progression. These skills are transferable and pivotal for their progression.
We offer a free trial session for all new children (excluding Messy Story sessions).
A key skill we promote as part of our clubs is independence. From years of experience, we’ve noticed that children cannot develop independence in our clubs in the presence of parents. This has a detrimental impact on their progress and focus within the sessions. Therefore, we don’t allow parents to sit in with the sessions. If your child is 3-5 years old, we will allow you to sit in during the first 10 minutes of your child’s first session, if this is something that will help ease them into the group.
A parent or carer must accompany children who attend the Messy Stories sessions.
Please note that all of our club facilitators have the relevant police clearing checks in place.
Any session that your child cannot attend will be carried over to the next term, as long as we are notified earlier than an hour before the start of the session. Please read our refund policy for the full details.
